Having been inspired by an article on Remote Island Living, these clients who were based in the South of France at the time, with a rural section in Otaki, contacted Lockwood Homes to start their Design and Build journey. Tuohy Homes are the professional Lockwood Contractors who look after this region. Their architectural designer Ross Kerry was quickly able to assist after receiving the client brief. The design journey was undertaken remotely to provide the clients with a totally off grid holiday home solution that took the best advantage of their location.
One of the specifications for their 157 m2 home was to include as many clean lines as possible. By choosing upgraded clear pine interiors (knot free) which were then blonded throughout, this 3 bed, 2 bathroom home with extensive wrap around decks became a light filled peaceful space.
Classic Lockwood sarked timber ceilings and beams with an open plan kitchen and island bench, separate laundry nook and pantry complete the appeal of functional yet beautifully connected spaces. High clerestories and the inclusion of copious sliding doors onto the decks and a second living area all share peaceful views out over the pool onto the bucolic rural vistas – just the spot for a bit of R and R.
Upon their return to New Zealand, the clients dropped in to the Coromandel show home, to confirm their planning and selections and talk with the award winning team at Coastwood Homes who were behind the inspirational Remote Island Living build.
This client home was completed and handed over in November 2017 and no doubt the swimming pool came in handy over our very hot summer of 2017 – 2018!
There is definitely a whole lot of Joie de Vivre captured in this holiday home and these clients love their unique, low maintenance holiday home.
