Learn MoreWhen you design and build with Lockwood, you’re choosing a system that’s inherently better at managing temperature and comfort. Our unique solid timber construction features tightly sandwiched wall components that minimise heat loss through thermal conductivity. With an R-Value of 2.1 achieved consistently throughout the exterior board, there are no gaps or inconsistencies caused by poorly installed insulation or hard-to-reach areas—just reliable performance throughout.
Lockwood homes also benefit from the natural thermal mass of solid timber. Unlike lightweight framed buildings, our homes absorb heat as internal and external temperatures rise, and release it slowly as they fall. This helps moderate temperature swings, contributing to a more stable and comfortable indoor climate year-round.
Of course, great performance doesn’t come from materials alone, it comes from using them well. With decades of experience, we understand how to design for your site, climate, and lifestyle. By carefully managing solar gains through orientation, shading, and glazing product selection, we help you make the most of Lockwood’s natural advantages, resulting in a warm, energy-efficient home with excellent thermal performance.
Thermally broken joinery includes a layer of low-conductivity material between the interior and exterior aluminium sections of the frame. This “thermal break” significantly reduces the transfer of heat or cold through the frame. When paired with high-performance double glazing, these window and door systems greatly improve overall thermal performance—reducing heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer compared to standard double-glazed joinery.

Our construction system provides flexibility and durability. The tongue and groove boards are able to move and absorb energy while the home retains structural integrity.
Lockwood homes are built from radiata pine which is a locally and sustainably sourced solid wood and is a natural, renewable, biodegradable product. Wood is the earth’s most renewable raw material so building with it is vital in the fight against climate change. The more solid wood we use, the more carbon that is stored. The more trees that are grown, the more oxygen is released into the atmosphere, and the better off our world will be. Lockwood homes are durable, strong, ventilated, warm and dry – so they create healthy living environments for you and your family, for good.
