Tony and Anne have a special connection with Lockwood homes. Anne grew up in one, and two of their family members have built with Lockwood before. When they started to plan their holiday home, Lockwood was their first choice. “We always had Lockwood in mind for a beach house, we knew it would handle the coastal conditions and stand up to the harsh environment.” says Tony.
They wanted a two-story house to enjoy the coastal views to the fullest, but they didn’t have a specific design in mind. They sought inspiration from other two-story homes on the Lockwood website and visited Lockwood Coromandel for ideas that fit their needs. With their adult children living in different parts of the country, Tony and Anne wanted a special place where family could congregate. They wanted something simple with clean lines, space for them to spend quality time, and room for family and friends. The design evolved from there as they worked with the Coastwood Homes team through the design process to realise their dream holiday home.
The final design has two distinct levels, with the living and kitchen area upstairs along with the main suite, separated from the three downstairs bedrooms. They also included a second living area downstairs, which can be used as an extra bedroom when friends and family visit. They decided to install a lift to make both levels accessible to everyone, which turned out to be a great decision.
Their favourite part of the house is the top deck, accessible from the living area and the main bedroom. It’s the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the ever-changing coastal views.
