This Kōpuha design, features a generous central open plan living, dining and kitchen island area. This is offset well by an eye catching fireplace and shelving display unit which has been block painted as a focal point near the front entry and compliments the modern blonded interior timber. The exterior cladding features Vertical Grain pine, a glue laminated for strength engineered Lockwood cladding which has been stained a soft natural colour, a perfect contrast with the dark window, clerestories and sliding door aluminium joinery.
Full width landscape windows across the extensive kitchen back wall work seamlessly with the lofty timber ceilings and skylights to bathe this social space in light.
Undermounted drawer style fridge and freezers were used in the kitchen island, freeing space against the back wall for taller pantry cupboards. In typical Lockwood style, striking laminated timber beams draw the eye upwards and outwards to the high clerestory windows. The popped up central area and extended eaves cleverly blend the indoor-outdoor living spaces and add an edgy element to the otherwise monopitch of the roofline.
Contemporary aqua mosaic tiles have been used in the bathroom and a clever tucked away laundry has been incorporated to the right in the kitchen.
This design is a great concept for a 2.5 bedroom small home or bach.
