Wellington Lockwood contractors, Tuohy Homes have recently completed the design and construction of this grand new holiday home on the Kapiti Coast. The homeowners had specific requirements for their escape from the city and wanted a place where they could entertain friends and family all year round. The exceptionally designed 353m² home maximises the site, provides a wonderful connection to its beach environment, and is a perfect fit for the family’s needs.
The home boasts four bedrooms, each opening up to the central outdoor living area, with the main bedroom being a private oasis on the separate northern wing of the home, complete with a walk-in robe and ensuite. The other three bedrooms are on the southern wing (sharing a large bathroom, and there is a separate guest WC as well.
The living area is open plan with a spacious entertainers’ kitchen, scullery, and coffee nook, all with inset LED lighting. The clear knot-free pine used throughout the home has been blonded to create a clean, crisp Nordic vibe. Additionally, there is a separate living/cinema room which has a home office tucked into a large double-cupboard area.
A covered walkway connects the boat garage to the main home and entryway, which is clad in schist stonework and sets the tone for the rest of the home. Stone accents are continued throughout, with a schist fireplace inside and pillars in the outdoor living area. Throughout the home, a polished, heated concrete floor is a feature as well as providing year-round warmth and temperature regulation.
The outdoor space also features a fireplace, allowing for year-round use, and skylights in the roof, providing plenty of natural light. The large pool and spa are lit by LED lights, creating a fantastic effect at night.
The home was designed and built with low maintenance and durability in mind, taking into consideration the harsh coastal environment, as well as incorporating the latest ATA Touch home system technology. The Tuohy Homes team went the extra mile by using special fixtures and additional materials to ensure the longevity of the home.
