How much CO2 has your home absorbed from the atmosphere?

NZ Wood has this great little calculator which helps to understand how your choice of building materials impacts on your home’s carbon footprint.

One tonne of CO2 is around 500m3, or approximately the volume of an average house. So one tonne of CO2 is about the same as that emitted by an average car travelling 5000 kms – or about 4.3 months of average use. (get more info here)

We did the calculation on our 127 m² Verandah plan, and are pleased to report that our beautiful show home saved a whopping 27,37 tonnes of CO2!
