These clients were originally based in Wellington and were looking to move up to Taranaki. Wanting to embrace the eco advantages offered with a Lockwood solid timber home, they went with a cedar cladding option, which has gently silvered through the seasons. They took inspiration from the Winton plan for their design and build which framed beautiful Mount Taranaki views from their rural site.
The inclusion of an in-floor central heating system in their concrete floors via circulated hot water, which is heated by an efficient gas boiler, keeps this home toasty and warm. A solar water heater saves us to 70% of their water heating energy costs. Paul Jones Construction, their Lockwood Taranaki Builder went on to win Gold in the Master Builders House of the Year for this home.
