The Acacia is almost complete and is standing proudly on its Taupo hilltop site while the final fit-out is in progress. From the main office, Peter Richards and his building team have created a floating walkway over the gardens to the brightly coloured and welcoming orange door. The corner profiles of the home and the joinery were done in Textura Black, which is a perfect combination with the softer cladding and vibrancy of the entrance.
The Lockwood Design Studio team at Lockwood Group Ltd in Rotorua worked out the perfect architectural plan for this Woodward Street site, ending up with a home of two distinct halves.
Two spacious bedrooms, separate laundry and main bathroom form the back half of the home. The large open plan living, dining, kitchen, scullery and master bedroom with WIR and en-suite form the front.
Contrasting tiles with high end fixtures and fittings, floor to ceiling windows with an impressive freestanding stone bath overlook a private garden, creating a relaxing sanctuary in the en-suite. A three sided glass fireplace makes another statement in the living area with generous built in bench seats either side offering the perfect place to wind down.
Painted interior walls with softly contrasting beams across the high sarked ceilings and clerestories, and the inclusion of numerous feature walls, make this home a must see.
Peter and his interiors consultant, Nadine Sobeh, are working hard to showcase the design possibilities in a contemporary Lockwood home.
