Lockwood International were commissioned to build a hotel complex for the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association to host visiting cricket teams. Their cricket ground, in Dharamshala, is the most northern cricket ground in India and at an altitude of 4200 ft above sea level, it's the highest in the world.
The site was in an mountainous region which was very remote and difficult to access. The time line and budget of this project was very tight, requiring a large amount of pre-manufacture and well-planned logistics. Due to the difficult terrain all materials were delivered by small truck up a very steep track. Both buildings were placed on timber foundations dug into the rocky slopes which were prepared before the Lockwood components arrived. It was a challenging build but with the quality and attention to detail of the Lockwood components and experienced Lockwood builders working with local teams, the entire project was completed under budget and in a total of 100 days from start to occupancy.
